Public Transport

In Perth's downtown area, all buses are free, with many bus routes travelling West along the Terraces (streets), past the Hotels to the central shopping area and to Kings Park.

In addition, there are a number of free CAT buses that travel in loops within the city area.

There are a number of train lines as well. In addition to the Airport line, the two that may be of interest is the Fremantle line, which will take you to the historic port city and the Mandurah line which will take you South to another sea side city, which was rated the Top Tourism Town in Australia in 2023.The maximum one-way fare is about $5, which is valid for multiple trips for 2 hours. Day passes are also available. Your may want to download the TransPerth app for your phone.

If there is sufficient interest, we can organise a guided tour with local members to either or both of these destinations,

These could be pre-meeting events or run during the meetings for non-delegates.

The cost of a 1 way ticket is less than A$5.

If you want to head to some of our city beaches, such as Cottesloe, Scarborough or Hilary's Boat Harbour (AQWA aquarium) you will need to take a bus instead of a train.

Of course taxis and Ubers can also be used

For those not averse to risk, electric scooters can be hired in the city and are available in many places on the streets there. You will need a credit card to hire them and may need to download their app to your phone. Helmets are provide and must be worn.
